OUR BELIEFS
STATEMENT OF BELIEFS
-
We believe in the Bible as the inspired and infallible Word of God (II Timothy 3:15,16).
-
We believe in the virgin birth of our Lord Jesus Christ, His vicarious, atoning death upon the cross, His physical resurrection, ascension and His second coming (Isaiah 7:14; Romans 8:34; Acts 1:10; John 14:2, 3; Acts 1:11).
-
We believe in salvation by grace through faith in our Lord Jesus Christ (Ephesians 2:8, 9; Romans 5:8,9).
-
We believe in water baptism by immersion conditioned by an act of genuine repentance (Luke 3:3; Acts 2:38; Matthew 28:19; II Corinthians 7:10).
-
We believe in the Baptism of the Holy Spirit with the initial evidence of speaking in other tongues (Acts 2:4; 10:44-48; 10: 8,9) and the present-day ministry of the gifts of the Holy Spirit (I Corinthians 1:4-8; 14:1).
-
We believe in the divine healing provided through the redemptive work of our Lord Jesus Christ on the cross (Isaiah 53:4; Matthew 8:16,17).
-
We believe in the sanctifying and keeping power of the Holy Spirit who enables us to live a holy life (I Thessalonians 4:3; II Thessalonians 2:13; Hebrews 12:14; I Peter 1:3-5).
-
We believe in the ministry offices that Christ has bestowed on His church following His ascension. These have been given to equip the saints (His church) for ministry and building up the Body of Christ until we all reach the unity of the faith, the knowledge of the Son of God, to a state of maturity while pressing on toward the fullness of Christ (Ephesians 4:7, 8, 11-13).
-
We believe in the commitment of each member to a continuing faithfulness to the doctrines, fellowship, prayer, and financial support of this Body (Acts 2:42-47; II Corinthians 9:6-8; Luke 11:42).
-
We believe in the Person of the Godhead as seen in the Holy Scriptures, there are three clearly separate persons operating in perfect harmony and yet clearly functioning in the distinct roles of Father, Son, and Holy Spirit (II Samuel 23:2-3, Isaiah 48:16; 63:7-10, Matthew 3:13-17; 28:19, John 10:28, 29; 16:23, 24; Romans 8:34; Ephesians 4:30; II Corinthians 13:14).
-
We believe in church discipline to be carried out in strict accordance with the biblical mandates under the direction of the Holy Spirit in love and mercy with a view toward the restoration of the offender (Matthew 18: 15-20; Galatians 6:1; Revelation 3:19; Hebrews 12:5-11).
-
We believe that God has established marriage as a lifelong, exclusive relationship between one man and one woman and that all intimate sexual activity outside the marriage relationship, whether heterosexual, homosexual, or otherwise, is immoral and therefore sin (Gen. 2:24-25; Ex. 20:14, 17, 22:19; Lev. 18:22-23, 20:13, 15-16; Matt. 19:4-6, 9; Rom. 1:18-31; I Cor. 6:9-10, 15-20; I Tim. 1:8-11; Jude 7). We believe that God created the human race male and female and that all conduct with the intent to adopt a gender other than one's birth gender is immoral and therefore sin (Gen. 1:27; Deut. 22:5).

MISSION / VISION STATEMENT
The purpose of Redeemer Temple is to carry out the mandate set forth in the New Testament by
our Lord Jesus Christ for His church (Matt 28:19-20). This will be fulfilled through these
primary functions:
1. Evangelize the lost (Matt 10:7-8; Mark 16:15-18; 2 Tim 4:5).
2. Instruct and disciple the saved (2 Tim 4:1-2; Col 1:25-29).
3. Equip the saints to serve one another (Eph 4:11-16; John 13:35).
4. Release into ministry those that God has called out for His purposes. (Acts 13:2-3).
5. Infiltrate and saturate of all society and culture with the righteous and holy standards of
Christ's Kingdom (Matt 5:13-16, 6:10, 28:20).
DOCTRINAL STATEMENT
GOD
We believe in the Triune God as revealed in the Holy Scriptures. He is one being (Deut 6:4), yet
three eternally distinct persons operating in perfect harmony through the roles of Father, Son,
and Holy Spirit (Isa 63:7-10, Matt 3:13-17, 28:19; John 10:30, Rom 8:34; 2 Cor 13:14).

JESUS CHRIST
We believe Jesus Christ is God (John 1:1-4). He took the form of human flesh (Rom 8:3), was
born to a virgin (Isa 7:14), lived a sinless life (Heb 4:15), suffered and died on the cross as a
substitutionary atonement for our sins (1 John 2:2, 4:10), was physically resurrected (Rom 8:34),
physically ascended into heaven (Acts 1:9-11), presently intercedes for us as our High Priest and
Advocate (Acts 1:3,9; Hebrews 7:25-26), and will physically return in the future (John 14:2-3) to
resurrect the dead, gather His church, and judge the wicked (Dan 12:2, John 5:28-29; Acts 24:15;
2 Tim 4:1, Matt 24:29-31).

HOLY SPIRIT
We believe in the total deity of the Holy Spirit, who is third person of the Trinity and submits to
both the Father and the Son. The primary ministry of the Holy Spirit is to glorify the Lord Jesus
Christ (John 16:14). The Holy Spirit works to convict people of sin, righteousness, and
judgment (John 16:8). He regenerates the sinner upon believing on Jesus Christ as Lord and
Savior.
He indwells, guides, instructs, fills, comforts, and empowers the believer for godly living,
mighty works, and service through individually bestowed spiritual gifts upon believers as He
chooses. (John 13:15; Titus 3:5; Eph 1:22; 4:11-12; Rom 8:9-17; 12:4-8; 1 Cor 3:16; 12:4-5, 11-
13, 19; 1 Cor 14; Gal 5:25; Heb 4:1-4; 2 Cor 12:12).

SCRIPTURES
We believe the 66 books of the Old Testament and the New Testament are verbally inspired by
God and inerrant in their original writings, not to be added to or subtracted from. They are God’s
only fully trustworthy authority for all spiritual truth and the total well-being of mankind (Psalm
19:7-11, 119:97-104, 119:160; Matt 5:18; John 5:46-47, 10:35; 2 Tim 3:14-17; 2 Pet 1:19-21;
Rom 15:4; Col 2:8).

MAN
We believe mankind stands condemned for our sin (John 3:16-18), but is offered salvation by
grace through faith in our Lord Jesus Christ (Eph 2:8-9; Rom 5:8-9) and His death, burial, and
resurrection (Rom 10:9-13), and that there is no other means of salvation or access to God
besides faith in Jesus Christ. (John 14:6)

SALVATION
We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures as a
representative and substitutionary sacrifice. We believe that all people who, through repentance
and faith, believes in their hearts that Jesus was raised from the dead and confesses with their
mouths that He is Lord are justified based on His shed blood on Calvary. (Rom 8:9-10; 2 Cor
5:21)

HEAVEN AND HELL
We believe in the bodily resurrection of both the saved and the lost. The saved will be raised to
eternal life in Heaven, and the lost will be raised to eternal torment in hell in conscious
separation from God. (Dan 12:2; John 14:2; 2 Cor 5:1; Rev 2:7; Matt 8:11, 10:28, 13:49-50,
25:34; Mark 9:47-48; Luke 12:5; Rev 21:8).

BAPTISM AND COMMUNION
These are the ordinances we hold to in obedience to Jesus’s commands. We believe in water
baptism by immersion (Luke 3:3; Acts 2:38; Matt 28:19) conditioned by an act of genuine
repentance (2 Cor 7:10) and confession of faith in Jesus as Lord (Rom 10:9) at a reasonably
competent age of accountability for sin and comprehension of the Gospel (Rom 6:3-6, 10:14;
Acts 17:30). The Lord’s Supper is the commemoration by believers of Christ’s death and our
union with Him until He comes again (1 Cor 11:20-29).
THE CHURCH
We believe the Church is the creation of the Jesus Christ, which is not merely a scattered
population of believers, but also the regular gathering of those believers for worship, prayer,
fellowship, communion, and the reading the scriptures (Acts 2:42-47), which is not to be
forsaken (Heb 10:24-25). As such, we call for the commitment of each member of Redeemer
Temple to a continual faithfulness in the doctrines, fellowship, prayer, and financial support of
this Body (2 Cor 9:6-9; Luke 11:42).
We believe that following Jesus Christ requires confession and turning away from sins (John
14:15, Prov 24:16), and that church discipline is to be carried out in strict accordance with the
biblical mandates under the direction of the Holy Spirit, in love, gentleness, and mercy, with a
view toward the restoration of the offender (Matt 18:15-20; Gal 6:1; Rev 3:19; Heb 12:5-11).
We believe in the continued ministry offices that Christ appointed His church following His
ascension (1 Cor 12:27-28). These have been given to equip the saints for the building of one
another towards unity and maturity while pressing on toward the fullness of Christ (Eph 4:7-
8,11-16).

SPIRITUAL GIFTS
We are Continualists, meaning that we believe the Scriptures do not teach that certain gifts have
ceased with the completion of the New Testament nor the death of the last Apostle, and that all
believers are to earnestly desire spiritual gifts. (1 Cor 14:1)
While we believe that all gifts are in operation today, we do not believe that any gift is a sign of
being saved or a sign of spiritual maturity. (Matt 7:21-23) We believe that there are different
gifts, different ministries for those gifts, and different levels of effectiveness in the gifts. All gifts
of the Holy Spirit are supernatural and given for the purpose of edifying the Body of Christ and
advancing His kingdom.
We believe that spiritual gifts are designed to honor the Lord Jesus Christ and unify His Church.
Therefore, we do not honor the gifting of certain people. Instead, we seek to exalt the Lord Jesus
Christ with any and all gifts that the Holy Spirit has distributed. Maturing in spiritual gifts will
result in a greater love for God and one another in the Body of Christ. We believe that humility is
the foundation for all spiritual gifts (1 Cor 12-14; Mark 16:14-20).
CHRISTIAN LIVING
The Bible teaches that all believers are saints, set apart unto God, and are thus responsible to live
in such a manner as not to bring reproach upon our Savior and Lord (Rom 12:1-2; 1 Peter 1:14-
19; 2 Tim 2:19; Titus 2), lest the Word of God be blasphemed (1 Tim 6:1; Titus 2:5).
As Christians, we should obey the Word of our Lord, seek the things which are above, walk as
He walked, and accept as our responsibility the duty and privilege of preaching the Gospel to a
lost world (1 John 2:3; Col 3:1; Eph 5:23; Matt 28:19-20).
A victorious and fruitful Christian life is possible only for those who have devoted themselves
wholly to Christ and are indwelt with the Holy Spirit, which all believers are called to (Rom
12:1-2; Gal 5:16; Eph 5:18; Romans 6, 7).

CREATION / EVOLUTION
We believe God created the universe in six literal 24-hour days and that before He created the
universe nothing except God existed (Gen 1:26-27; Ex 20:11, 31:17; Pslm 33:6-9; Acts 17:24;
Heb 11:3; Col 1:16). God chose to create the universe and all that is in it to reveal His glory,
divine nature, eternal power, infinite wisdom, and supreme authority (Isa 43:7; Psalm 19:1-2; Jer
10:12; Rom 1:20; Rev 4:11).
We deny the theory of evolution which claims that nonliving substances gave rise to the first
living material which then reproduced and diversified to produce all living creatures. We believe
that all people are descendants of Adam and Eve whom God created personally and individually
and as complete human beings (Gen 1:26-27, 2:7, 2:21-22; 1 Cor 11:8-9).
The fall of Adam and Eve infected all creation with sin and death, but God has promised to one
day restore perfection to the world (Rom 8:22-23; Isa 11:6-9; Rev 22:1-5), and the death and
resurrection of Jesus Christ gives each human being the opportunity to receive God's gift of
eternal life (Rom 5:18-19; 1 Cor 15:21-22). God rules over His creation and cares about and is
involved in the lives of individual people (Job 12:10; Acts 17:25; Col 1:17; Heb 1:13; Eph 4:6).

MARRIAGE AND SEXUALITY
We believe that God has established marriage as a lifelong (Matt 19:4-9), exclusive union
between one man and one woman (Gen 2:24), and that any intimate or sexual activity outside the
marriage covenant, whether heterosexual (Ex 20:14,17; 1 Cor 6:15,18), homosexual (Lev 18:22-
23), or otherwise (Ex 22:19; Lev 20:13-16), is immoral and therefore sin (Rom 1:18-31; 1 Cor
6:9-10, 1 Tim 1:8-11; Jude 7).
We believe that God created the human race to be male and female, and that any intent to adopt
or affirm a gender, role, clothing, or appearance other than that of one's biological sex is immoral
and therefore sin (Gen 1:27; Deut 22:5).

WOMEN IN MINISTRY
We believe that men and women are equal in worth (Gal 3:28) but distinct in function (1 Tim
2:13), perfectly designed by God to complement one another and act according to different roles
in the world (1 Cor 11:8-9).
Male headship does not extend to all men over all women, but is specifically expressed within
the covenant of marriage, where the husband lovingly and sacrificially leads his wife as Christ
leads the Church, and the wife respectfully submits to her husband as the Church submits to
Christ (Eph 5:22-29; Col 3:18-19).
This covenantal reality of the household is also modeled by church leadership, in which the
offices of elder, overseer, and primary teaching pastor are reserved for qualified men (1 Tim
2:11-3:7; Titus 1:5-9; 1 Cor 14:29-35), but women are also essential to the life and mission of the
church (Rom 16:1-16; Phil 4:2-3) and may be ordained for a wide range of ministries, including
teaching in appropriate settings (Acts 18:26; 2 Tim 1:5,3:14-15; Prov 22:6), discipling other
women (Titus 2:3-5), and using their gifts for the edification of the body (1 Cor 12:4-11).

ONE HUMAN RACE
We believe that all modern nations, tribes, people groups, and ethnicities of mankind are
comprised of one single human race, created by God (Acts 17:26), descended from the one
family of Noah and his sons (Gen 10:32), who themselves descended from Adam and Eve (Gen
5), and that the bride of Christ is comprised of all tribes, tongues, and nations (Rev 7:9).
We reject Critical Theory and any partiality, favoritism, entitlement, or discrimination based on
one’s identity with any ethnicity or people group (Deut 1:17; Rom 2:11; James 2:8-9), as well as
any inheritance of guilt from sins of previous generations which would require recompense
(Ezek 18:19-20; John 9:1-3).

PRO-LIFE
We believe that every human life begins at conception (Psalm 139:13-16; Jer 1:5; Isa 49:1; Luke
1:41,44) and bears God’s image in a distinct way from other creatures (Gen 1:27), and that the
deliberate killing of innocent human life is murder at any point after conception, whether inside
or outside the womb (Ex 20:13).

ISRAEL
We believe that God has one covenant people comprised of both Jew and Gentile, co-equals in
Christ, (Gal 3:28) but that the physical descendants of Jacob have a continued future role in
God’s redemptive plan for humanity as a demonstration to the world of His own faithfulness and
restorative mercy (Romans 11).

CHRIST’S RETURN
We believe in several preceding signs which will indicate the season of Christ’s return (Matt
24:7-35; Mark 13:8-31; Luke 21:10-36), but that no man can know the specific timing (Matt
25:36-51; Mark 13:32-37), and anyone making efforts to do so should be rejected (Matt 24:4-6;
Mark 13:5-7; Luke 21:8-9).

FINAL AUTHORITY
This Doctrinal Statement does not present the extent of our beliefs exhaustively. The Bible itself
is Redeemer Temple’s final and sufficient authority for all of life. It is the sole source of all that
Redeemer Temple believes and will be interpreted and applied by the Pastoral team and
Governing Board of Elders for all matters that are not covered in this statement.
